Here’s a little video of me painting my face for a dress rehearsal over the weekend. (The rest of my costume was undies and mud!) I use Krylon face paint along with Mehron barrier spray before and after to keep my make-up in place all night and an assortment of cheap craft brushes. Music is from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure :)

This weekend I had a little too much time on my hands and painted my nails to look like cupcakes!

Here’s how…

1. Paint two coats of the base color. I used Nicole by OPI in Blue Lace.
2. Using white polish make three or four lines of differing lengths from the tip of your nail toward the bottom and then add more polish to round them out. I put on the white fairly thick to keep it bubbly looking. I used Sally Hansen polish.
3. Once the white is dry, use nail glue to attach red rhinestones. You could also make dots with red polish.
4. Use glitter polish to add ‘sprinkles’ – I used NYC ‘Starry silver glitter’, which has tiny silver sparkles and larger pink and blue glitter which I placed where I wanted it.
5. Finish with a top coat. I used Essie ‘No Chips Ahead’

You’ll need an iPhone cover, metal studs, pliers and a utility knife.

First line up your studs to measure for placement.

Using the utility knife, make a tiny slit where the prongs of your stud will go through.

Push the stud through the holes and fold down the prongs with your pliers.

Repeat, repeat, repeat!

The softer your case is and the more sturdy your studs, the easier it will be to push them through. Also, I’d recommend putting felt or plastic in the back of the case so the prongs don’t scratch your phone.

I got my hair cut and colored at the Aveda Institute near my house. The girl did a great job and it was so cheap! I got their Madder Root shampoo, which is supposed to made the red last longer. We shall see!

I got a little crafty last night and made this ring. Gluing together pyramid studs was not terribly easy since they don’t stand on their own. I’m going to have my dad teach me to solder, which will hold better than all the glue I slathered on the back.

It took me forever to get dressed this morning because all I wanted to wear was my blue plaid scarf and purple lip stick.

I’ve been living in nothing but dresses, leggings and boots, so pants were totally out of the question. I ended up with a super stretchy high-waisted royal blue skirt over a black tee. And of course black leggings and boots.

Last night, since I’d already eaten pizza at work (they always feed us on election night), I decided to try out a recipe for Pecan-Maple Sticky Rolls. I didn’t have any pecans on hand, so I changed the recipe a bit and added apples.

1 apple (I used Granny Smith) peeled and diced – the smaller the better
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar – for the dough
2 tablespoons sugar – for apple mixture
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Pinch of salt
1 1/2 sticks salted butter-1 stick cubed and chilled, 4 tablespoons melted
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon cinnamon
6 tablespoons pure maple syrup

Preheat the oven to 425°. Grease a 12-cup muffin tin with butter (or cooking spray).

In a food processor, pulse the flour with 1/4 cup of sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Add the cubed butter and pulse until it is the size of small peas. Add the milk and pulse a few times, just until a soft dough forms.

I mixed mine by hand which left me with a super sticky dough, so I added more flour until it held together.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead 3 times. Pat or roll the dough into an 8-by-12-inch rectangle.

In a small bowl, combine the diced apple, 2 tablespoons melted butter, 2 tablespoons of sugar and cinnamon. Spread all over the dough. Beginning at a long side, roll the dough into a tight cylinder and pinch the seam closed. Cut the dough into 12 slices.

Divide the maple syrup and the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter among the cups.

Bake for about 18 minutes, until golden; place a baking sheet below to catch any drips.

Invert the rolls onto a rack. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Makes 12 rolls.

I know, I know, Halloween isn’t for another two months. I couldn’t help myself! I made a trip to Michael’s for markers and watercolor paper and went a little crazy when I got to their Halloween section.

Who doesn’t need mini tombstones, a rhinestone skull, and a Gothic candle holder with a bat hanging from it – complete with a purple glitter skull candle?

I also bought this glittery, wiry tree to display all my Nightmare Before Christmas toys.

Does anyone else think it’s a little weird the skeletons along the bottoms are hanging by their necks? Kinda thinking I should rehang them. I don’t want any angry ghosties showing up!

Lately lots of bloggers have been posting about Jillian Michaels’ workouts. Last night I decided to see what all the fuss was about and found one of her videos On Demand. Now I understand why everyone keeps calling her a whore. Holy moly am I in pain today! That woman wouldn’t let me stop moving, not even for a minute! I wanted to punch her the whole time. And now…I really want to do the workout again!
