Some of you may remember I posted about learning EFT a month or so ago. I’ve been trying it off and on with good results and used it again last night.

Recently I learned a bit of information I needed to know but didn’t want to hear. The kind of information that immediately and continuously made me sick to my stomach. (Eating ice cream for dinner did not help) For days The Information That Made Me Want to Barf stuck in my head, turned my stomach and made me feel generally awful.

So last night I tapped on it. Round after round until I felt the pain of knowing lift. Instead of weighing on my mind and turning my stomach, the image of what happened merely flickered across my mind and faded.

Then I realized I had spent all night, and many nights before, thinking about something that I wanted to happen, but was not. I tried to read, but my mind kept going back to The Thing That Was Not Happening. So I tapped on that as well.

I tapped on it for a long time. Round after round, a little worn out this time, I sat back and let my mind relax. I was still aware of The Thing That Was Not Happening, but it was small and insignificant now and I was able to spend the rest of the night reading without it creeping in to my mind.

The best way I can describe EFT, for me, is it takes what I’m tapping on and turns it from a forest fire into a quickly extinguished match. I don’t dwell on the thoughts anymore, they are there for a second and then gone.

The Information That Made Me Want to Barf is not on my mind today and The Thing That Was Not Happening is being kept at bay and…The Happy is coming back.

As I continue to abstain from television (it’s been over two weeks now), my activity for last night was to create a vision wall.

When I lived at my parents house I had a vision board on the wall next to my bed. It was a piece of foam core that I would attached pictures to with straight pins and scribble quotes on with a sharpie. My vision board disappeared somewhere in the move, so I’m starting fresh.

I headed to the store and bought little metal clips, index cards, magazines, and command hooks. The string of lights and assortment of colored pens I already had at home.

I attached the hooks to the wall in a zig-zag pattern and hung up the lights. Then spent the evening sifting through magazines and cutting out pictures of things I want (bags, shoes, makeup) and places I want to go (beaches). I also wrote positive quotes on note cards. I arranged the pictures into little collages and then clipped everything to the strand of lights.

The idea is to look at the photos and words every day and think about it every day, then thoughts become reality.

It may sound a bit nutty, but my last vision board had a picture of money going into a piggy bank, a house and a dog. And magically, I saved a huge amount of money, bought a house and adopted a dog within 6 months. (I feel like an infomercial typing that) Those were the three things I focused on and thought about the most, believing, without a doubt, they would happen.

Here’s a couple of tips if you’re interested in making your own:

Don’t just look for pictures, cut out words from magazines as well. I found a giant ‘NOW’ that I added to my beach + sexy man collage.

If you choose photos of people, make sure they are smiling or look like they are enjoying life. If you look at photos of grumpy people every day, you will feel grumpy as well.

The images don’t have to be of material items – if you want to make new friends, post pictures of happy groups of people. If you want to exercise more, post a picture of rock-hard abs.

Use positive statements: If you want to stop shopping, don’t draw an X over a photo of shopping bags. Instead draw the pile of cash you’ll save from staying away from the mall.

Now go forth and vision!

Here’s what I’m doing tonight…sitting in bed with Slayer learning Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT from videos on YouTube.

Gala Darling has posted an awful lot about how well it works for her, so I decided to give it a try. I was looking at something today online that made me sad and jealous, so I tapped on it tonight and tomorrow I will look at it again and see if I feel any different.

Here is a video Gala posted on YouTube that explains EFT pretty well:

There seem to be a lot of people online that believe in this stuff and the tapping feels kinda good and relaxing, so I think I’m going to give it a try for a couple weeks and see if it gets me anywhere. I’ll let ya know how it goes.

Since I didn’t post my outfit today, I’ll show you what I’m wearing right now.

Red and blue plaid shirt from H&M, black tank from Forever 21,
not pictured – gray sweatpants from Victoria’s Secret.

This was my ‘running to Borders because I realized I had 20 bucks in gift cards and neeeeeded more books’ outfit. (jeans instead of sweatpants though, don’t want my ass to end up on What Not to Wear)

I bought Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris, The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold, and The Cleft by Doris Lessing.

Just in case you were wondering, I purchased bag no.1 from my previous post. Woo!!

That is all. Goodnight :)
