When I walked into the studio they pointed me to a chair with a question on it and I said, “No way! I’ll sit and smile, but I’m not talking!” So they stuck me in the front row instead. Awesome.

I sat and smiled and pretended to be interested as they talked about dresses and diamonds. I’m just hoping there isn’t too much audience reaction in the final product. At least my mom will love seeing it. (And no, my MI blog friends, I will not tell you when it’s airing ;))

Here’s my happiness list from last night – I thought I’d take a picture instead of writing it out.

Do you know what else makes me happy? It’s been one year since I bought my house! I can’t believe it’s been so long – there’s still a ton of work to do!

And seeing Lady Gaga on Oprah! Did you watch? She seemed so sincere – much more than any other pop star I’ve seen on TV in a long time. I love her even more now!

One last thing – did you donate to the Haiti relief effort yet? I texted “haiti” to 90999 yesterday. It took two seconds. I didn’t have to find a website or get out my credit card. It just adds $10 to your phone bill and the money goes to the Red Cross. They made it way too easy. Many people in Haiti had nothing to begin with and now they have less than nothing. I can’t imagine what that’s like, but I can take a whole to seconds and send some money.

I just got conned into being video taped for a piece that’s airing soon. “It will just be your hands, you won’t be on TV,” they tell me, but I refuse. 10 minutes later they come back again, “No one else will do it, it will only take a few minutes.” Fine – I just finished the project I was working on, I’ll do it.

So I sit and hold a notepad and pretend to write (I hope it’s not a tight shot because I write “Hi, You suck” before I scratch it out and switch to numbers.)

Then the photog says “OK, now look up” and I say “I thought this was just going to be my hands.” And he says “It will only be your eyes.” But I know my whole damn face is going to end up on TV!

At least my mom will enjoy it.

Around 9:45 he appeared in the corner of the bar that had been turned into a set. He was friendly and answered a few questions about how he liked Detroit and why wasn’t he wearing the gray sweater he had on before? (his mom saw a promo and said it looked green, so he opted for a black blazer instead – good choice Anderson!)

The show started and there was a good amount of drunken shhhhing from the crowd. We couldn’t hear anything he was saying and watched the show on the tvs around the bar. During the commercial break Anderson repeatedly checked his Blackberry.

Jessica and I stood on our chairs and possibly ended up on TV for a couple seconds when Anderson interviewed a man at the bar.

When the show was over he thanked everyone for coming and then the crowd surged forward before he could escape, mobbing him for pictures. As we pushed our way through the mass of old ladies and gay dudes, Jessica said ‘why are there so many guys here?’ and the dude in front of us goes ‘why do you think?!’

We got a very awkward photo – see me in the back there, looking creepy according to my Facebook friends. I’m sure everyone’s photos turned out this well. The stage manager was snapping pictures as fast as  people were shoving their camera and phones into his hands.

Yes, Anderson is as attractive and well-dressed as he is on TV. Yes, I wanted to makeout with him. Yes, I had some major competition from the dudes at the bar who kept yelling ‘I love you Anderson!’

We ordered a round of beer and everyone started grilling me about what would happen during the shoot because they were all getting nervous. In reassured them they would chop up the video enough to make them all look great.

Once our food came we had about 10 minutes scarf it down and pay before we had to run and meet the producer. I feel a little bad for our server because we were ready to leave the moment he took our order, but he was a good sport.

We walked the couple blocks to a different bar on main street. Thursday is bike night in RO so the streets were crawling with dudes and necessarily loud motorcycles. As we were walking I heard my name being yelled and looked over to find a group of coworkers sitting outside. I chatted for a few minutes taking great care to not slur my words, but they were all looking a bit glassy-eyed so it wouldn’t have mattered anyway.

The segment we were shooting was about 20-somethings hanging out in RO and all the cool, hip places we like to go. All the other girls were clamoring to be on tv, back-combing their hair and slathering on lip gloss. I hung back a bit not really caring since I’m getting my 15 seconds of fame with the cheese commercial.

10 girls and a tv camera is a really good way to draw attention. They took shots of Linz talking and then us walking down the street being young and hip. We went to a couple bars and got heckled by a few drunken men – one was even being dragged away by his wife/girlfriend as he tried to talk to us. Instead of pretending to chat casually as we walked down the street, Erin and Liz repeated ‘that’s what she said’ over and over. It was a pretty entertaining way to spend an evening.

We ended the night at the Post, which was pretty quiet when we got there but by the time we left you could barely walk through the place. Saw a bunch of my fave faces.

Got pulled over on the way home because I was “all over the road” aka young and driving a car covered in stickers. The cop asked me if I had taken any shots, was I lying, and had I smoked marijuana because he could smell it. Jerk.

Finally made it home around 2, which is pretty late for this old lady.
