Last week Jessica and I had a little Double Trouble date and hunted down ornaments and holiday decorations.

I ended up covered up in sparkles and bought a bunch of little poinsettias and pine cones to make hats for our holiday show. By the time I was done me, my couch, my coffee table and floor were completely covered in glitter!

The end result turned out pretty fantastic though! On Friday we dressed up as elves and performed at the artists market near my house. High five to Claire’s for once again saving our butts with the candy cane suspenders and striped socks. We had such a great response from everyone at the showthey asked us to come back again in January :) I’ll have pics and video soon!

On Saturday Nicole and I had a nerd lunch and I helped her figured out some blog stuff. So hop over there and say hi :) She’s got mad style and sells vintage on Etsy.

After lunch we stopped at the Rust Belt for a little shopping. Aren’t these magnets so stinkin’ cute??

Sunday Pants was home from visiting his fam, so we went to Christine’s for brunch where I finally killed my craving for waffles.

I was so very happy to have a weekend off. Preparing for a show is a lot of work with putting together costumes and searching for new music, not to mention actual rehearsals. I’ve also been working on four site designs at once, so I feel like I have to use every minute of every day to work through my to-do list. I’m really terrible at taking time off, so Saturday night I decided I was staying in and not working at all. I ordered a whole pizza for myself, painted my nails and watched Christmas movies.

What do you do to turn off your brain and step away from work? I can give out tons of advice on staying motivated and getting ish done, but taking a break….not so much >_<

It has been months since Jessica and I went out dancing. We’ve both been hibernating all winter, but it warmed up to the 40s yesterday! Around 5 last night she sent a ‘I think we need to go out’ text and I was in complete agreement.

Per usual we both ended up in all black and flannel. I watch the super hero episode of OTH beforehand and did my eye makeup in the style of BabyMama…Urban Decay’s Mildew on the inside and sparkly black on the outside.

I got hit on by some impressively awkward dudes…I feel like I should write a PSA or something because it was just painful to witness.

How to hit on a lady: Think of what you’re going to say before you approach her, be confident (or fake it), introduce yourself, and watch her body language…if she’s not into it, say ‘It was nice talking to you’ and make a swift exit.

DO NOT: Stand super close, wait a full minute before you say anything, tell her you’re a loser multiple times (she will believe you), mumble, and then continue to stand there when she turns away, talks to someone else, and TELLS YOU SHE’S NOT INTERESTED IN TALKING (???). And if she says she’s not interested, do not locate her on the dance floor later and continue to bug her because then you look creepy.

I actually had a guy friend butt into the “conversation” because I looked uncomfortable and then walk us to our car because we were so creeped out.

J and I headed downtown last night for a Double Trouble date. We got there too late to see our favorite crew in the Band of Buds competition, so we wandered over to The Stick. Spent the night hanging with Royce and Andy, who tells the most hilarious stories and acts them out with everyone having really low voices. They were pretty perplexed by J’s one black leg, one white leg pants.

After the bar we made our usual Sonic run where I discovered they have the most amazing french toast sticks EVEEER! They could only be made more amazing by dipping them in ice cream.

NOMCITY!

Jessica and I headed downtown last night to catch the third game of the Wings season. The first wings goal came 24 seconds in, just as we were walking into the arena. And then the first, and unfortunately only, fight happened right as we found our seats. It was a super lame fight too, so it really doesn’t count.

We were sitting next to a pair of super drunk middle-aged women. I always say I want to still be fun and go out partying when I’m older, but I hope to keep it classy haha

The game came down to an intense shoot out – everyone in the Joe was on their feet and cheering like crazy…

But the only two Colorado fans in the building got their wish and the Wings lost. Oh well, it was a fun night anyway!

I came to move move move move! Get out the way of me and my crew crew crew crew!

I guess this is the outfit to wear when I want to get hit on a lot. Poor guys – I show up to dance, not meet people.

We’re wearing the same exact outfit…

A trip that could have taken just over an hour took us two and a half because of a little excursion through classic car hell to the bank and then a stop at Taco Bell that was so not right off the highway. I hadn’t eaten there in probably two years and it was still as delicious as I remember.

When we finally showed up at the venue it was like a scene out of Pee Wee’s Big Adventure – bikers everywhere and us feeling super out of place. It felt a little more Sons of Anarchy once we got inside and got comfortable, but for a while there I was preparing to win over the crowd with my table dancing skills.

The Sleeping played and even though it didn’t look like their kind of crowd at all, people seemed into the show because well, they’re awesome.

Post performance we hung out at the bar, getting hit on (as usual) by an awkward drunk guy who tried to buy us drinks, asked me what color my eyes are, and then petted my messenger bag. The bartender called us over to try whipped cream vodka and Vernors – not too bad!

Once the dudes were packed up we hung out outside in this huge patio area. There were a whole lot of drink tickets being passed around and I, of course, was a party animal with my water.

Doug demonstrated multiple times that he can balance a full drink on his head and do a little dance. He thought he got winked at, but Jess shot him down saying, “Was it a wink or a lazy eye?”

The dudes were hilarious and excellent shit-talkers. It pretty much went like this…

Around 2:30 the dudes drunkenly piled into the van (where their sober driver was already waiting) and we hopped back on the highway, letting the Descendents carry us home.

Sometimes the power of Double Trouble goes a little overboard. I’m not even quite sure what happened at the bar last night and I only had one drink. We got holla-ed walking through the parking lot, grabbed a beer and tried to stare down the people in the booths so we could sit down. Finally a couple clears out and a dude sits down and says we can sit with him and we think he’s about to leave so we do. WRONG The dude tells us he’s the guy who yelled to us in the parking lot, asks if we’re single and then proceeds to tell us weird, incestual, semi-racist stories about working for a cable company. The entire time Jessica and I are giving each other WTF ???!??!?? looks and trying to figure out how to get rid of him. After the stories reach creep level 500 we both whip out our phones and start texting like mad so someone will save us. The dude finally gets the hint, asks if we want to hang out some time, which I reply ‘…no’ and they finally leave. I don’t think they made it out the door before we burst out laughing trying to figure out how that guy came up with such fantastic verbal diarrhea.

Jessica’s buddy Mike shows up and we have a normal hour or so until I realize the girl who lived next door to me until I was 11 and was super mean to me the last few years was standing about 5 feet away. I’m totally weirded out and of course Jessica starts trying to sneak a picture of her and I’m just hoping she doesn’t recognize me.

2AM rolls around and we’re getting ready to leave when the drunkest dude at the bar parks his ass on a stool across from us and looks like he’s about to tip over every five seconds. He needed a seat belt to stay upright.

Then, of course, he turns around, swinging a coke in one unsteady hand and comes lunging toward me. I’m all ‘NO NO NO NO!! You can’t sit next to me! Go back over there!’

Sloppy drunk guy is having a ball, Jessica is laughing her ass off and taking pictures and I’m burying my face in my hands hoping that coke doesn’t end up on me. Luckily something else grabs his attention and he wobbles away.

Jessica and I make a break for the bathroom and then head over to Sonic. We pull in, order our food and finish with ‘We want The Hatter!’ and the voice in the box said ‘OK! I’ll be right out!’

He was sans skates this time and said he was just thinking about us and wondering when we would be back.

We always come back for tots and ice cream – it’s the best way to end the night :)

I realized I never have photographic evidence of our Wednesday night dance parties, so I made a point to take pictures this week. See that black shirt Jessica is wearing – it’s Miley Cyrus brand. Miley Cyrus, you are not old enough to be wearing clothes like that and neither are your fans!! But Jessica can because she’s a hottie :)

Of course Jessica was half-naked with her hair in rollers when I showed up, so I took some blurry photos in her bathroom while I waited. Shorts + tights + my Bronx goth stripper boots is my favorite summer dance party outfit.

At one point in the night I was told that I’m Batman (the hot Christian Bale Batman of course) because I have my shit together…just like Batman.

And I also ended up with a date for Friday night ;)

At 2am we made a Sonic run…

and stuffed our faces with grilled cheese and the best pickles ever!

Look who our carhop was – The Hatter! He was adorable and said we were his best customers that night and yes, he was wearing a giant Mad Hatter style hat and could not skate at all!

Another best night ever – it’s that Double Trouble magic I tell ya!

Jessica brought blasphemous break and bake cookies to my house last night and we made four packages. I would have forced her to make them from scratch but I’m out of eggs. They were still pretty good ;)

In the midst of trying to con Royce into driving a container of cookies across town to a friend who was in a terrible accident a couple weeks ago, he let me in on a little secret…one of my favorite bands is playing a secret show on Friday. I’m skipping Warped Tour for the first time since I started going in high school, so that news made me super happy! I’m not telling who because A. none of you will care and B. none of you will be driving out to the mitten to go. Plus if just a handful of people show up (unlikely) it would pretty much make my life. HAH!
