The Company We Keep is Brian’s new band. (B for those long-time readers :) They’re recording an album as part of a project by MAD Dragon Records and Motion City Soundtrack to support emerging artists.

I have to admit, I was a little stressed out about this site. (or possibly a lot) The day after I agreed to do it the band learned that the label wanted to launch it on Tuesday aka FIVE days later. I had a very small window of time to completely design, build and upload the entire site, but I’m really happy with how it turned out. I love how the main photo has a bit of a ’90s vibe. And Brian did show up at my house at midnight Monday to shovel my sidewalk since I was working so hard.

You can get a little taste of their sound in the video below – I’ve heard one of the tracks and it’s SO GOOD. Well worth the four years Brian has been working on these songs and I might just have to use one for an aerial show soon!

Jenn emailed me looking for a very bright, rainbow-colored custom Blogger template. Sometimes it takes a bit of trial and error to get on the right design track, but as soon as I found this photo, the whole design fell into place. I don’t use a lot of photography in my designs, so it was nice to try something new. I added the needles to give her header a more logo-like appearance and clipped colorful dots out of the main photo to use as accents throughout. What do you think??

I’ve been excited to share this site with all of you for months. It’s for a Detroit-based variety show called TeaseTown Correctional Facility for Women – a  hooping, singing, dancing, burlesque show full of uber-talented ladies. I wasn’t exactly sure were I would go with the design until the inmate mugshots showed up in my inbox. I stuck miss Hayley Jane front and center and the rest of the layout just fell into place. So happy with how it turned out!

When working with a client on a site design I like to have them create an inspiration board for me. It helps to really pin down their style and see what colors and shapes they like. Here is the board that Chandre created for her blog, Princess Precocious.

I wanted to incorporate the jewel tones, water colors, feathers and butterflies along with decorative fonts. What do you think?

Taylor emailed me looking for a simple, minimalist design with a script header, flowers and light pink details. It’s so easy to go overboard with flowers, making them bright and cluttered. I wanted to do something soft and simple this time. Just a little accent to keep the focus on her content. Which is currently…her brand new niece! Just launched a Tumblr design this week for Adaena. She wanted bright pops of color with hand-drawn elements. When I started looking through the Google Font directory I fell in love with Amatic SC’s skinny scribbled caps and had to add it to the design, but decided on a more girly font for the header.

Here’s a design I finished last week! Rachel is a design/decor/fashion blogger and I was really excited when she suggested black, white and yellow because it’s a color combo I’ve been drooling over lately. We decided to pair ‘Cookie’ from the Google font directory with a type writer font and lots of little dots and arrows throughout. I’m so happy with the final design!
