[ Corkscrew]
Sunday in circus class I got to work on my routine for the student showcase. I was getting nervous because I didn’t have anything figured out, but Alison helped me put some tricks together. I listened to my song (Muse – Uprising) on the way home and the tricks match up really well, so now I’m getting excited!
[ Candy Cane Leg ]
And the big finish, Tic Tac Toe Drop.
TA DA! The performance is at the end of September and there will be video!

Sometimes the power of Double Trouble goes a little overboard. I’m not even quite sure what happened at the bar last night and I only had one drink. We got holla-ed walking through the parking lot, grabbed a beer and tried to stare down the people in the booths so we could sit down. Finally a couple clears out and a dude sits down and says we can sit with him and we think he’s about to leave so we do. WRONG The dude tells us he’s the guy who yelled to us in the parking lot, asks if we’re single and then proceeds to tell us weird, incestual, semi-racist stories about working for a cable company. The entire time Jessica and I are giving each other WTF ???!??!?? looks and trying to figure out how to get rid of him. After the stories reach creep level 500 we both whip out our phones and start texting like mad so someone will save us. The dude finally gets the hint, asks if we want to hang out some time, which I reply ‘…no’ and they finally leave. I don’t think they made it out the door before we burst out laughing trying to figure out how that guy came up with such fantastic verbal diarrhea.
Jessica’s buddy Mike shows up and we have a normal hour or so until I realize the girl who lived next door to me until I was 11 and was super mean to me the last few years was standing about 5 feet away. I’m totally weirded out and of course Jessica starts trying to sneak a picture of her and I’m just hoping she doesn’t recognize me.
2AM rolls around and we’re getting ready to leave when the drunkest dude at the bar parks his ass on a stool across from us and looks like he’s about to tip over every five seconds. He needed a seat belt to stay upright.
Then, of course, he turns around, swinging a coke in one unsteady hand and comes lunging toward me. I’m all ‘NO NO NO NO!! You can’t sit next to me! Go back over there!’
Sloppy drunk guy is having a ball, Jessica is laughing her ass off and taking pictures and I’m burying my face in my hands hoping that coke doesn’t end up on me. Luckily something else grabs his attention and he wobbles away.
Jessica and I make a break for the bathroom and then head over to Sonic. We pull in, order our food and finish with ‘We want The Hatter!’ and the voice in the box said ‘OK! I’ll be right out!’
SEE?! Hatter!
He was sans skates this time and said he was just thinking about us and wondering when we would be back.
We always come back for tots and ice cream – it’s the best way to end the night

Wednesday, after a full day of work and a shoulder straining, toe crunching circus class, I had so much energy I grabbed Slayer and went for a run. After that run I had even more energy and couldn’t sit still – there was no way I was staying in, I needed to dance. JDT and Gravy, my partners in crime, were not going out, so it was either stay in or be brave and go to the bar alone. This is something I never do, but the energy overruled and I got my ass ready.
I love this dress (ok it’s only a dress if you have a hot ass and major balls, otherwise I suppose it’s a tunic), it’s super comfy and eye-catching. And my hair – I watched TV for too long so there was no time for a shower. I doused it in dry shampoo and then curled the crap out of it.
Went to the bar, got my dance on and was back home in bed by 1am. Mission accomplished!

Hangs with The Joker make bottles of wine disappear.
We’ve been on an SOA kick, watching seasons one and two before the third one starts.
Because it’s the best show ever.

Woke up this morning to the Descendents with Slayer’s cute little head right on the pillow next to me.
Threw on one of my Kohl’s finds – a cap-sleeve striped dress, perfect for showing off my Hello Kitty bling, and yellow flats. My hair is lookin’ a little crazy since I let it air dry.
My little green peppers pulled a switch-a-roo on me while I was at my parents over the weekend and turned red. Not sure what kind of peppers they are anymore.
For dinner I sauteed yellow squash and green chard with sage and green onion from my garden, plus a little lemon juice and butter. Gotta say, I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but I’m a pretty good cook

I look like a one-legged freak in these photos, but I assure you I have another leg – it’s holding me on the trapeze! I had more energy and an easier time climbing and foot locking, but I need to start doing pull-ups every day again. I was nervous I would have lost my mid-air diaper stag, but I’ve still got it! I really need to post some videos at some point so this stuff makes sense. Hahah
This weekend was super relaxing. Friday was cookies, two bottles of wine, and SOA with The Joker.
Saturday, my mom and I went on a shopping spree at Kohls – she works there and has a million bajillion coupons, so our total savings for the day…over $400. Crazy right?! We spent about $250, so I don’t know how that works out. But I’m happy because I got a bunch of cute, black, sparkly, striped, leopard print pieces (including the leggings in the above pics). We finished the evening with Mexican food and Doubt, which I liked until the last two minutes.
Sunday I drove downtown for circus class and then spent the rest of the day at my parent’s house, catching sun next to the pool and finishing Little Altars Everywhere.
And today I woke up to fantastic news on the internets: Whitney is expecting another baby boy – Dublin is pretty much the cutest kid ever, so I can’t wait to see baby #2. And Elsie is engaged! Congrats to you both!
Blues

Today I’m rocking all black, blue eye shadow, silver nails, and a giant rhinestone Hello Kitty necklace. Meow!
Blue shadow is London Dungeon from Aromaleigh (who happens to be going out of business and has some great deals) with black liquid liner along the lash line (under the shadow) and silver L’Oreal HIP shadow over top. I got the Falsies mascara to work a little better, but it took about 5 coats.
I’m planning a very relaxing weekend involving cookie baking, Sons of Anarchy watching (rewatching seasons 1 & 2 before the 3rd season starts on Sept 7 woo!!), hanging out with a cute dude, learning new circus tricks, swimming, and shopping with mom. Breathing a sigh of relief just thinking about it. Happy Friday

Last night I had my first intermediate aerial class. I was a little nervous and worried I wouldn’t be able to do any of the tricks, but I kept reminding myself that I couldn’t even get on the trapeze during my first class and look how far I’ve come.
We started with floor warm-ups – Kristel is planking while I’m workin’ my hamstrings. We did a second warm-up where we sat with our backs straight against the wall, legs out in a V and then tried to lift them off the ground. Mine would only move a few inches! Of course the instructors can lift them all the way up like they’re just hanging out in boat pose.
For this trick I stood on the trapeze, flipped upside down wrapping my legs around the ropes and then slid down to the trapeze into star pose. This is why I have rope burn on my feet and calves, a bruised spine and a trapeze imprint on my lower back. I love that all my scrapes and bruises are from doing the tricks correctly, not from falling.
X-back left me with super sore toes.
I can’t remember what this one is called – it’s a double foot lock to splits and then you swing up and hook one foot and then let go with your hangs and chill. Pretty fun, but my foot lock was giving me trouble since I didn’t have to do it last session in hammock class.
The class wasn’t as difficult as I worried it might be – I had already learned X-back and splits, but by the time I got to the fabric I was out of energy. Hoping a little climbing practice on Sunday and some more sleep will give me more stamina next week.
Bigger arms + spicey pickles

Jason Vorhees is ready to party.
I realized I never have photographic evidence of our Wednesday night dance parties, so I made a point to take pictures this week. See that black shirt Jessica is wearing – it’s Miley Cyrus brand. Miley Cyrus, you are not old enough to be wearing clothes like that and neither are your fans!! But Jessica can because she’s a hottie
Of course Jessica was half-naked with her hair in rollers when I showed up, so I took some blurry photos in her bathroom while I waited. Shorts + tights + my Bronx goth stripper boots is my favorite summer dance party outfit.
J and I pre-sweaty dance party.
Yes, DT, I like this one better so I posted both haha
And then it was time to D.A.N.C.E!!
Just make your arm movements bigger so they fill the whole dance floor!
At one point in the night I was told that I’m Batman (the hot Christian Bale Batman of course) because I have my shit together…just like Batman.
And I also ended up with a date for Friday night
At 2am we made a Sonic run…
and stuffed our faces with grilled cheese and the best pickles ever!
Look who our carhop was – The Hatter! He was adorable and said we were his best customers that night and yes, he was wearing a giant Mad Hatter style hat and could not skate at all!
Another best night ever – it’s that Double Trouble magic I tell ya!
Busy days
Posted on August 4, 2010
Wow, the past couple days have just disappeared on me. The primary election was yesterday which meant I was at work until 12:30 in the morning keeping the site updated and functioning properly. (And taking covert, blurry pictures) My brain is still a little scrambled, but I need to stay awake for circus class after work and then I’m hoping I have just a bit of energy left to go out dancing after.
August is going to be super busy with vacation in a few weeks and trying to squeeze in a trip to Cedar Point before my brother and sister move to opposite coasts, but let’s not talk about that – gets me a little sad. I know I know, I’ll finally get to visit San Diego, but I like having them here so we can hang out.
I finished reading Plantation and have Lowcountry Summer on order to take with me as I bake in the sun on the beach in Lowcountry. My family has been vacation in Pawley’s Island, SC since I was thirteen and I’m so ready to go back.
So that’s what I’ve been up to, staying busy, busy busy, looking forward to vacation and trying to make time to hang out with everyone.
