Sufficiently rocked by Child Bite, Jenn and I decided we were starving and went to wander through the line of food tents. Every other one was selling bbq and it smelled soooo yummy! But I was a good veggie and let Jenn eat steak and chicken kabobs while I went for pizza.

We made our through the throngs of people back to the stage for Deastro’s set. They are so dancey and fun and Randy runs around the stage like a madman the entire time he’s singing. After a couple songs a lot of people got up from their seats and crowded toward the stage while Jenn and I stayed back and got our dance on.

After Deastro we headed to the Stick for Bar Bazaar, which was pretty quiet, so we went back downstairs for onion rings and sour apple slushies. It looked so cool and refreshing, I couldn’t resist. Who says you have to drink beer at the bar?

Gala Darling has posted an awful lot about how well it works for her, so I decided to give it a try. I was looking at something today online that made me sad and jealous, so I tapped on it tonight and tomorrow I will look at it again and see if I feel any different.

There seem to be a lot of people online that believe in this stuff and the tapping feels kinda good and relaxing, so I think I’m going to give it a try for a couple weeks and see if it gets me anywhere. I’ll let ya know how it goes.

My mom passed this book along to me and I read it in two days. Steve Harvey knows what he’s talking about.

If you were ever wondering what your boyfriend or husband was thinking when he said what he said or did what he did, Steve Harvey has the answers.

He explains the three things that are most important to a man, why you should hold off on giving him ‘the cookie’ and how to get him to marry you. He gives good advice on weeding out the losers and setting your standards high. And he’s damn funny too.

Of course the feminist in me doesn’t want to completely buy into the ‘let him take care of you’ stuff, but if Steve says it’s the man’s job to take out the garbage and mow the lawn, I’m not gonna argue.

After realizing how few books I’ve read in the past year I decided to add ‘not watch tv for a week’ to my 101 list.

As many of you know, I work in a tv station, so avoiding it there wasn’t going to happen and I was allowing movies as well. Mostly I just wanted to stay away from going home after work, hoping in bed and spend my night mindlessly channel surfing. If I was going to stay in, the plan was to either be productive (clean, bake, exercise…) or read. My resolution to accept all offers to hang kept me out of the house most nights anyway.

On Saturday I almost gave in. I couldn’t find a willing soul to be my date for the evening, so I unhappily stayed home. My tv was just staring at me, begging to be watched, but I picked up Kabul Beauty School instead and read until I fell asleep.

I did have one little slip-up during my Sunday movie date where the tv stayed on after Gran Torino was over, but we were not paying much attention to the show (wink, wink), so I’m allowing it.

Last night I had totally forgotten about my anti-tv campaign and didn’t even think to turn on the tv while I waited for Jenn to be ready for dinner. I took Slayer for a walk, gave him a bath, did laundry, and wrote in my journal.

And then today I realized I made it a whole week. As with my no shopping resolution, I’m going to continue to stay away from my poor lonely tv as long as possible.

Last summer I won a loaded jewelry box on eBay. When it showed up at my house, my sister and I were eager to see what treasures were inside, but couldn’t figure out how to get it open. The top was latched and there was a small drawer at the bottom. We couldn’t open the latch, so we proceeded to try and pry the drawer apart. Luckily my mom came in or else we would have broken it. All we had to do was slide the latch over and then when the top opened, the drawer slid out. We are so smart!

The box contained a few wearable necklaces and rings, some junk jewelry and a million clip on earrings.

I ordered ring backs from Etsy and then used pliers to pry the clip part off the earrings. I sanded the ring base and back of the earring and then glued them together with E6000. Voilà!

(I’ll add a picture of the jewelry box if I can figure out where it ended up after I moved)
