Long-lasting, budget-friendly makeup
My lovely friend Amy posted a comment a while ago asking about makeup. “Since the Weird Sisters probably know what make-up works/stays the best, I was hoping you could do a recommendation list for makeup for the fair skinned. I’m always looking for good deals. Buying La Mer is just not in the budget.” So here are my favorite products as of late and a couple I’ve used forever.
I’ve been obsessed with Just Bitten for a while as I’m sure you’re all aware & I’m still in love and wear it almost every day. For mascara, liners and foundation I’ve been using Maybelline products for a long time. For shows I wear my foundation with Mehron Barrier Spray. It feels a little heavy on my skin so I wouldn’t wear it every day, but it would be great for a special occasion. I add a little water to my HiP shadows to keep them on through a whole night of flying and the glitter liner – I’ve taken to wearing just a little on the inner corner of my bottom lid during the day and a whole lot when I perform :)
(And no, I don’t wear the blue eyeshadow, gold glitter and pink lipstick all at once – even us circus freaks can’t get away with that!)

I hate to be a bummer but mainstream cosmetics are pretty much unregulated and contain nasty toxins including carcinogens, hormone disruptors and more. To learn about this a good book is No More Dirty Looks. Affordable natural companies I like are The All Natural Face, Madison Street Beauty and Honeybee Gardens (among others).
You’re totally right. I’ve tried all-natural stuff in the past and unfortunately my face did not like it. I also have not found as bright color or long-lasting products, but I will check those brands out.
Awesome post! I love affordable makeup.
My suggestion may not be budget friendly, but it does last. I purchased the Makeup Forever Pan Stick and it’s lasted me three years, no weird odors (some makeup when it expires smells funny), no discolouration. The color is still true to the shade and still has amazing coverage. You only use a few swipes so it lasts a very long time.
Awesome post!! It’s so nice to get recommendations for make up that works and won’t break the bank :) I remember I won a giveaway you did a while back, with a Just Bitten lipstain and some dry shampoo, I’ve been sold on Just Bitten ever since!! So awesome. Thank you for that! :)
You’re welcome! Cannot live without those two :)
If you really want to make your eyeshadow last, use a base! I use MAC Paint Pots.
I use those as well – one of the few items I actually spend a little money on
