Home Sweet Home

I didn’t realize how much I needed a vacation until I was actually out in San Diego away from work and class and my computer. I made a self-imposed rule of no Facebook checking and set my email to only update when I told it to, which did last a few days.
We spent mornings watching documentaries – which I think I will turn into its own post because I made it through EIGHT in six days. In the afternoon, on the days my brother worked, my sister and I walked around town, checking out the shops and eating the most delicious vegan cashew raspberry cheesecake. We took the bus to the zoo (my first time on public transport if you can believe it!) and spent another day wandering the beautiful Balboa Park. On Friday we hiked the cliffs in Torrey Pines State Reserve and Saturday was spent on the beach eating burritos from FreeBirds. Sunday was bottomless mimosas, Nutella french toast and karaoke at Analog. We ended the trip by stuffing ourselves with naan and curry at Royal India.
As much as I enjoyed my little vacation, I was so happy to come home to my house and my bed and my Piglet. My sister said traveling makes her want to leave Detroit for good, but it actually makes me want to stay.
These pics are all from my iPhone, so I’ll have another post once I go through everything on my SLR :)

Girl, you are absolutely stunning!! Wowza…
I’M SO HOMESICK! I can’t wait to come home! We’re going out when I finally arrive! Is it bike weather there yet? Get it ready if it is.
So close to bike weather!! Plus it’s gonna be light out way later. We will have a Treat Dreams + bar date when you get back :)
Yeay! You made it to San Diego!!! So glad you finally got to visit my fair city. It’s such a great town, slower and more relaxed (and cleaner) than LA, but small enough to see a lot in just 6 days! I’m sad you didn’t make it to Extraordinary Desserts. That restaurant was MADE FOR YOU. But hopefully you’ll visit SD again in the next couple of years, and maybe we can even make it a GIRLS TRIP!
So glad you had a great time, and it gave you a perspective of the meaning and specialness your home.
I’m like your sister. The more I travel, the less I want to stay in one place. But hey! The amazing thing about Detroit is that you have a great home, and the cost of living (non-mortgage-y things) is low enough that you can take time to save and then go travel!
Next destination: HAWAII!
MISSYOURFACE.
I’m quite jealous of your french toast…it looks delicious!
I just got back from a nice, well needed, vacation on Monday night, and I hope yours was as much fun as mine was. (If you’re interested, check out http://therockboat.com …I’m currently going through my pictures to find the best ones to share)
Removing the internet when on vacation is key. However, I did need to use the maps on my phone when on land, and foursquare to remember where I went, since I was never to NOLA before.
Fun! My boyfriend is from Encinitas so every once in a while we go visit his family out there–it’s so beautiful!
I can’t believe you took all these with you iphone! They are amazing :)
You are so pretty. And love all the photos! Glad you got some time away.
Your hair looks amazeballs!!
