Goth Dining Room Makeover

I’d been planning to re-paint my bright orange dining room for a while and finding myself with a weekend free I ran over to Home Depot and picked up paint. I went with Behr’s Stealth Jet, which I keep describing as almost not black, but really…I just painted my dining room black :)

[ Before - bright bright bright orange ]

[ After - black on black ]

I wanted it dark, but not angsty teenage bedroom dark, so I decided to class it up a little. I painted the walls flat black then added high gloss stripes in the same color. It turned out exactly the way I pictured and I love how it makes my furniture and chandelier pop. I’ve used Behr in every room in my house – their primer + paint is top notch. It only took two coats to cover the orange.

I’m not quite finished yet – still planning to replace my mid-century table with a dark stained farm table and adding a mix of mismatched chairs. Then either the current light or a more elaborate version will be painted lime green!

can you email me the name of the blue shade that is in the adjoining room in the last “after picture”? Love the black too, and like the other reader, didnt think I could love it more than the orange. great work.

When I first opened the page, I thought “no way! why would you want to paint the orange!” But a quick scroll down and I can see… black does look mighty fancy. I love that you did the matte/gloss stripes. Totally boss.
