Things I Love Thursday
[1] Lazy, lazy, lazy weekend. With my laptop out of commission, I packed up the pup and headed to my parents house on both Sat and Sun. While the pool is still way too cold to go swimming, I put on my swimsuit anyway and got a little sun while reading Cesar’s Way. I love vacationing at their house, it’s always quiet and peaceful and nice to get away from all the chores I should be doing at my own house. We had burrito bowls for dinner outside on the deck. All the excitement of hanging out with my parents caught up with Slayer and he was passed out the entire ride home.
[2] The mass hysteria that occurred at work when sparrows attacked the robins nest we’ve been watching for weeks. One baby bird was tossed out of the nest and the entire newsroom went running outside to save the rest. I remained at my desk reading blogs, unaffected, until my coworker came at me with said baby bird, dead on a piece of cardboard, begging me to help her bury it. Um…no.
[3] My new ridiculously high wedges. (from Bakers) I ordered the to wear in Vegas, but I’m going to need some seriously practice before I can confidentially strut around without watching for twigs and cracks in the sidewalk. Speaking of Vegas…I’ve never been before and I’m not quite sure what to wear. We’re going to a punk show and Cirque. I’m sure there will be lots of walking around. Any suggestions??
[4] After a relaxing, yet exhausting weekend I went home, showered, put on my pjs and went over to Pants’ apartment to snuggle on the couch to watch last week’s TV on Hulu and eat cake batter ice cream.
[5] Unloading tons of stuff at my parent’s garage sale. While I only made $13 I was mostly happy to clean out the spare bedroom and basement. I had five extra lamps and four sets up curtains that were in the house when I bought it. It’s always relieving to get rid of stuff. My rule is always – if I haven’t used it in a year, it’s gone.
Also…mining for peanut butter cups, my first foray into tanning (I made Jenn go with me…it was kinda scary!), finally beating Jessica and Pants at Words (!!!), devouring a ginormous plate of nachos for lunch, writing in my new teal journal (hundreds of empty pages make me very happy), black on black Dakine houndstooth weekender, rain rain every day, grocery shopping with mom, barely doing my hair or wearing makeup and still feeling pretty, running with the pup, having an iPhone and taking a million more photos than I used to, getting my laptop back all fixed and with all my files (!!!), finally getting to finish my latest client design, new aerial opportunities!

My friend just came back from Vegas and she said she is so glad she wore runners. She wore runners for the longer walks, but if she was going within 10-15 minutes of her hotel she wore flip flops.
I like the shoes! For Vegas, you’ll probably be walking a ton. I’d recommend bringing a pair of flip flops that you can wear while walking on the streets. Then you can stick them in your purse and put your heels on when you go into a hotel. :) It’s really not necessary to dress up all the time though. On my first trip, I had this idea that everyone dressed fancy all the time but ended up realizing that everyone is usually pretty casual unless you’re going to an event that dressing up would be appropriate for. It’ll be pretty hot, so dress for comfort. :)
Do you read gala darling’s blog? I think she did a Vegas survival type post with lots of tips.
Thanks for the tips! I love Gala’s blog, totally forgot she posted about Vegas. Going to find it right now :)
Vegas? Wear airy clothes and stick to low wedges or sneaks. Just dress up for Cirque. I did. I was the only one, but I looked HOT. Just be prepared for lots of walking.
Most people look casual and like garbage in Vegas. If you are fine wearing leggings and flip flops or sneaks, you’d be fine. But if you want to look hot, go for your normal outfits that you wear when you wanna look sick. Differentiate. Your normal outfits are pretty much better than normal Vegas Tourist any day, so you’ll always stand out no matter what. But I say, go big or go home. Just make sure to have comfy walking shoes, and avoid the puddles of vomit. Next time you go to Vegas, go on a weekday. The douches come out on the weekends.

Mae Lu @ thereafterish.!
Those shoes are hot – you should wear them all the time! As for Vegas – it will be hot and crowded during the day and if you are walking, wear what you are comfortable in. At night, women hooch it up, especially if you are going to a club so bring your hooker gear and doll up! LOL
Have fun!
I’d just wear whatever you would normally wear to a show, but with comfy shoes because the streets are packed and it is pretty hard to navigate at times, especially at night. For cirque, just a casual dress, if that. It’s a fun excuse to dress up. If you’re not walking all the way down the strip then heels are fine (or wedges because they’re considerably easier to walk in) or if you have a big bag, put your heels in there and change when you get to the show if you wanna look super pretty. :) I’ve done that on many occasions.
puppy seatbelt and shoes! too cute :) sounds like an exciting few days
Lots of happy things! Those shoes are adorable, but I’d need lots of practice too before I was able to walk the Vegas strip in them :) Are they comfortable?
Glad you had a nice weekend!
