Kitchen light dilemma

I came downstairs one morning a couple a months ago to find water damage in my kitchen ceiling. Stupid bathtub overflow drain had not been properly sealed and left a giant split in the drywall. This week my cousin is replacing the ceiling and in the process found an outlet, meaning I can now add an overhead light.

Here’s what my kitchen looked like before…

Aaaand here’s what it looks like now…

Yikes!

I’ve been looking all over for a funky, Mid-Century (maybe with a hint of gothic, though I know those don’t really go together) fixture to go in the ceiling.

The first two lights are from Overstock, second from Ikea and the rest I found on eBay…decisions, decisions :)

Oh no! You poor kitchen. But at least you get a fun new light. I really like the first row, middle light. So fun and both modern and old school.

  3. i love the first, third, and forth fixtures. i’m alllll over the kitschy/ outter space looking/ mid century style.

my neighbor had a front porch light just like the hanging globe. one day, they accidentally smashed the back half. i cried for weeks.

Those lamps are super cute; I love the seventh picture.

Why on earth is there an electrical outlet in the ceiling? LOL. I don’t think that’s code! HAAHAH. Sorry, I watch too much Mike Holmes (a Canadian reno show)

I like the middle one on the first row. Simple.

Ikea has some cool lighting pieces too. And there may be a building supply store there that specializes in rejuvination. We have one here that’s geared towards older home style.
