Savor the mud
Sunday morning, after a restless nights sleep at my parent’s house, I woke up at 6:30, (aka horribly, painfully early) to watch my brother and cousin compete in the Muddy Buddy race. It’s a running/biking course that ends in a giant mud pit. The participants are encouraged to dress in costume, so they were team American Gladiators, decked in red, white and blue.
My mom and I watched from the sidelines as teams waded through the muck and I realized one huge plus to being a spectator – pair after pair of hot, sweaty, muscled men covered in mud crossed the finish line and then ran into the lake directly behind me, stripping off their clothes, to rinse off. You can wake me up at the ass crack of dawn any day for that!
It wasn’t long before John and Maria rounded the bend and dove into the mud.
They came in 12th place in their age group out of about 50 teams.
We spent the rest of the morning camped out in the shade of a tree, eating donuts and fruit and trying to keep Slayer from barking at every single person that walked by. By the time we got home around noon I immediately crashed on the couch and passed out cold for three hours. Early mornings don’t agree with me, but damn it had a nice view.

i’ve never heard of this but it looks like fun and half naked men?! sign me up for next year ;)
Oh my golly gosh – HOW FUN! Why didn’t you tell me about this? I would have got up before the ass crack of dawn to drive out to see this. Especially if there were that many men running around half naked. Hello awesome :)

I’m thinking of maybe possibly doing it next year, but it’s soooo early!!
That looks like a lot of fun!! Except for afterwards getting all cleaned up and spending a lot of time scrubbing in the shower.
