In addition to working on my cooking skills, I’m taking a shot at growing veggies this year. My mom is a fantastic cook and has two green thumbs, so I’m hoping her gardening skills will rub off on me as well.
Above is a pickling cucumber plant to go with the bunch of dill I planted.
This is probably my favorite thing I planted – a huge pot of herbs. I’ve got basil, thyme, rosemary, marjoram, sage and parsley. Slayer loves to stop and smell these plants. He’ll smell the basil and then walk around the other side and sniff the rosemary for a bit.
Onions and garlic – my mom has planted onion before, but the garlic is an experiment. Everything sprouted so I guess I’m on the right track!
Green peppers
Look at the little buds forming!
And I planted a few flowers too – this is a New Guinea Impatient. I’ll shoot my window boxes once they fill in a bit.
I love having fresh veggies right outside my door. Have you planted a container garden? What veggies thrived for you?

Looks awesome!!! I can’t wait to grow some herbs when the weather cools down in AZ.
Your herb garden container is so pretty! I want to play around more with planting a bunch of plants in one big pot–that’s something I haven’t really done much of.
The veggies that have done the best for us are probably peppers (especially jalepenos) and salad greens, like micro greens. But mostly we have non-edibles. I’ve always been a pretty decent gardener but I’m really lucky that my boyfriend has an AMAZING green thumb and gardening is one of his fave hobbies. (I know, right?!)
This year we wanted to redo our whole garden and plant more herbs and veggies, but we’re sooo late in getting to it. After seeing yours, I’m super eager to get it done. I think I’m gonna push for this weekend!

Good luck! I almost forgot I have lettuce seed to plant – just need to get one more container.
Fun! I currently have a pot of herbs as well and a tomato plant that is doing really well! My New Guinea Impatien is gorgeous but that thing needs sooo much water! It will be wilted, I’ll give it a drink, and literally an hour later it will be back to life!

Mine does the exact same thing! I think I killed it, but give it some water and it perks right up.
I have a little container garden on my balcony. Usually I do flowers and herbs but this year I left the flowers behind and planted cherry tomatoes instead. I’m so excited to be able to eat tomatoes from my balcony!
I love this! I’d love to at least have an herb garden, but apartment life doesn’t really support it. And I don’t have a lot of confidence in my green thumb, so I’m afraid to try!
Yessss I hope my little herbs sprout up soon too!
I have a container garden on my balcony, which is also where I keep my worm box (which right now is without worms). I always grow tons of tomatoes, because they’re my favorite, and basil, thyme, and chives. This year I’ve also got some sort of spinach-y plant and some edible flowers, along with a tiny orange tree and apple tree that have yet to ever fruit. And then regular flowers and a couple of experiments.
I love my container garden, and having barbecues out there. Next I need to hang my hummingbird feeder and get some new worms.
So lovely! I hope to get into gardening one day…when I have grass! Haha :)
