Eating watermelon, listening to the rain, and watching a TV with a very sleepy Slayer.
My mom and I went shopping for herbs and flowers for my window boxes this afternoon. I love driving out to my parents house to go grocery shopping with her. I got a giant cooler for my Door-to-Door Organics delivery that will show up on Wednesday.
Yesterday Jenn and I walked all over town in search of cheap dinner. It was starting to cool down, but was still warm enough for a tee and shorts. Most of the restaurants were closed so we stopped by The Post, which was pretty much empty, and had Jeremy make us dinner.
Back home Slayer was begging for a walk, so we took him around the block to the park behind the community center. We hopped on the swings and I held Slayer on my lap – he actually relaxed quite a bit as we swung back and forth. My mom thinks I need to get him a baby swing hahah.
After we’d had enough walking we headed home, got ready/danced in the bathroom and went back to the bar for a couple drinks.
After a frustrating few weeks at work a three-day weekend was much needed. The weather has been beautiful the entire time, from scorching sun perfect for sitting on the deck to cool nights and now pouring rain. I still need a vacation, but for now I’m feeling much more relaxed and centered than I have in a while.

Oooh, I’m jealous of the door-to-door organics! In April I joined something similar down here–an organic buying club. Pretty much the same thing, but I have to go pick up my share at my coordinator’s house.
But it’s so exciting getting a big box full of a surprise selection of delicious organic fruits and veggies. I’ve tried new things that I wouldn’t have bought otherwise, and it’s a fun challenge finding/coming up with recipes and cooking with what’s available locally and seasonally, rather than choosing a recipe and going shopping for the ingredients for it. It’s like an adventure!
