Bledfest: Kids, Sonic, Punk Rock
I spent the first part of my 3-day weekend on the deck, reading and baking in the sun. I even threw on some self-tanner before going out, but as you can see from the photo below, I’m still the palest person on the planet.
Around 4, Jessica picked me up and we ventured to the middle of nowhere to see The Swellers, Misery Signals and Strike Anywhere at Bledfest. The weather was absolutely perfect for a mini road trip. We cruised from highway to highway until we came upon a school crawling with kids. I felt like I was walking into a potential episode of 16 and pregnant.
As a teen myself I would have been stoked to hang out at this punk rock playground all day, but as an adult it was kinda awkward. I was a bit dismayed to see how many kids took the opportunity to get some air outside during Strike Anywhere’s set. I wanted to make a public announcement and tell them to get their damn asses back inside.
After we been surrounded by rowdy kids for long enough we made a bee-line to Burger King for dollar Icees and had a Reggie & the Full Effect sing-a-long on the way back to civilization. We did Sonic/people watching for dinner, let the pups out and then we headed downtown to see Deastro at the Majestic Cafe. It was quite a relief to be in a room full of adults and good to see so many friends since I rarely go out. We had a beer and hung out watching bands until we were ready to crash and then ended the night with cheesy pop music on the scenic drive home.

I was told I looked “punk as fuck.”

You do look punk as f, but it’s AWESOME.
We need a tv show. ;) <3
