Adventures on OkCupid
After lots of encouragement from my bloggy friends, I decided to make a profile on OkCupid. If nothing else, at least it would be entertaining. Well…entertaining is an understatement as the email alert on my phone has been going off all night.
First, I’ve been winked at by a whole lot of weird dudes. “Winking” is the equivalent of poking someone on Facebook. A super creepster move if you ask me. I don’t want to be winked at in real life and I especially don’t want to be winked at online. Grow some balls and send me a damn message!
Then, I was notified by OkCupid that my brother and I are a match. I received a message from him saying “…. this is totally not awkward at all…. good luck out there champ.” His profile is kind of awesome and hilarious, so I’ve decided I want to hook him up with Jenni. If you didn’t know I’m a fantastic matchmaker having hooked up my sister and her boyfriend of 2 years.
I’ve been a member for all of four hours and have already been asked out by a very cute guy with tattoos and a CAREER who promised to sing me Alkaline Trio songs. I Googled him, so I’m quite sure he’s a real person. I’ve also been messaged by two other interesting prospects.
I’d say this is starting off very well.

Yay! Good luck! I did Match years ago and enjoyed the ego boost it provides.
So funny you were matched with your brother! And that’s awesome that out of all the ‘winking’ you still have a couple legit requests! Can’t wait to hear about them
hilarious/strange on the brother front, but awesome on getting asked out on the first day
HA love this…I was matched with my stepbrother when I was on that site! SO AWKWARD.
but yay for a couple of non family prospects!!
too funny you were matched with your brother. i love his response. sounds you are off to a good start
I am not really surprised they matched you with your brother. I know it’s weird, but not surprising. I recently visited my sister and after spending time with her and her boyfriend I realized she chose a guy JUST like our brother (in personality, not in looks). The super weird thing is, my sis and bro did not get along at all growing up and they still don’t always see eye to eye.
Attraction is a crazy thing. Good Luck!
Can’t turn down Alkaline Trio!
i like him already!
a boy with a career, who promises to sing to you?
swoon!
Woo! Good luck on the cupid! My friend Mike found his gf Erica on there, and they’ve been together over a year. That being said, some of my girlfriends were on there for a few months had to give up bc of all the losers. Ha. Glad you have some good prospects
You googled him? Is THAT what the kids are calling it these days.
Kidding – I wanted to do this while I was single for no other reason than the blog fodder! Unfortunately, for guys it is rather expensive to start going on a bunch of random dates.
You know what I like best about this? That I didn’t even have to create a profile to get a date! Score!
I’ve never been a good match maker but if you have hooked up a couple that has been together for 2 years now then I have high hopes for your brother.
I hope you find lots of great dates from this site. The worst that can come of it is a few funny blog posts (dating always brings funny thing to blog about)
Have a great weekend darling and keep us updated on what comes of the site.
ps- winking is lame
The fact that they matched you with your brother is hilarious. I just went lurking around on there and found a girl’s profile I know from in town hahahaha. So funny. Good luck with your hottie tatted man! Let us know how it goes. xo
I’m really curious about this OkCupid dealie. I’m just getting out of a 10-year relationship and honestly not looking to start another relationship… but it seems like it could be QUITE entertaining just the same LOL.
I keep hearing mixed things about OKCupid, so I kind of look forward to seeing if it goes better for you than just about everyone else who has blogged about it, ha.
I’m also glad to see you aren’t into incest. Woohoo for that, lol.
Good luck lady! Online dating seems to work really well these days – a lot of women that I met on The Knot met their fiances and husbands through online dating.
