First, you are all amazing and your comments on my last post made me feel a whole lot better. Thank you thank you thank you for your support. It means a lot to know you’re there even if you’re on the other side of the state/county/world.
Other things making me feel better today…my wonderful, funny coworkers + a huge piece of chocolate cake + Potbelly for lunch (and my boss picking it up because I don’t want to go out in the wind and snow) + ordering more books + texts from Jessica who is stoked to hang out tonight + listening to Motion City Soundtrack because almost all their songs are upbeat + Slayer being super extra cute this morning + digging out my winter boots +
Second, I want to write about how I’m going to get myself out of this lameass funk. Sitting in a negative space isn’t going to make anything good happen, so I’ve got to move forward and find ways to entertain myself.
Jessica posted about making it to the end of her ’52 books in a year’ list. I was working on one book a month, looks like I’m going to have to step it up. After going through Jezebel’s 75 Books Every Woman Should Read there are now almost 300 books on my wishlist, which should keep me busy for quite a while.
Mandy suggested, and I’ve been thinking about, putting together a MI 20-Something Blogger meet-up. I need some new people in my life…Ria, Mandy, SuperGirl?? Let’s make this happen.
My mom suggested volunteering or taking a class. I’ve been wanting to volunteer with Arts and Scraps for a while and maybe I’ll check out the local animal shelters too. Who doesn’t love cleaning cages? And taking yoga and dance classes is on my 101 list, so I might as well check those off.
There’s also the list of the top 10 movies of the decade one of our writers prepared. He’s a total movie buff who knows what he’s talking about. I’ve seen most of them, but I need to watch Michael Clayton, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Monsters, Inc., The Queen and There Will Be Blood. I’ll have to make a few additions to my mom’s Netflicks queue :)
Other things on my 101 list that are sure to keep me busy: hosting a potluck/ladies night, crocheting a blanket, selling 5 items on Etsy, working out 3 times a week, going to the DIA, refinishing the sideboard in the dining room, going on dates with my sister, piano lessons (maybe possibly), learning to knit, painting the upstairs (didn’t I do this last time I had a breakup?), working on the secret project (will be launched in January – you will be shocked in a really good way – I think, I hope!)
Any other suggestions?

Ooohh I’m excited about the link to the 75 books all women should read! :) Thanks!!!
i have been reading your blog for a few months now and never left a comment until now- I love reading it and you make me want to blog more! So thank you for that- and I hope things get better- they always do!
there will be blood.. good, but not as earth shatteringly good as people make it out to be… the queen, good but not amazing.. monsters inc., a must. :) <3
Okay so I got caught up and…I’m so sorry. Sorry that he doesn’t realize what he’s letting go. And sorry that he hurt you. [[hugs]]
Those are all great ideas! Keeping busy is always how I get over the bad stuff, I’ve been on such a book kick lately.
x
I am totally in for a meet up! I can also recommend an excellent yoga studio. I’d also like to take dance classes. I took a hip hop class a few years back. It was mainly soccer moms who had kids in ballet classes at the studio, but I miss it!
yes, let’s definitely make it happen :)
also, if you’re looking to take a dance/yoga class of some sort… i’m going to take an aerial yoga class starting mid january… it’s basically yoga in the air and a form of dance/gymnastics, the site for the place i’m going is http://www.detroitflyhouse.com. i just found out about it last night and i’m really excited for it because i’ve been wanting to do it for awhile. so it could be something interesting for you to look into as well. :)
PS Almost Home Rescue is where I was thinking about looking into, http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/MI320.html
um…squee!!!!!!! I’d love to meet up with you girls! So yes let’s make this happen, soon! I also know a couple more that may be interested. You aren’t very far from me so if you decide to volunteer at a shelter let me know. I volunteered at Dearborn when I lived over there. I know that I’d do it more if there was someone I could talk to while cleaning cages :)
You haven’t seen There Will Be Blood?! SO GOOD! Also, Michael Clayton. Definitely great movies of the past decade – I own them both :)
Hey Sarah. I hadn’t checked up on your blog in a week or so and was absolutely crushed to read your last entry! I can’t believe it! I really thought you two are heading for the serious part of a relationship and you always seemed so happy. I am SO sorry to hear about it :(
However, I envy you in so many ways. You always have this ability to remain positive. I am such a pessimist and I hate it. I can’t help it, but I’m always thinking things like “well, what if Todd broke up with me? Would other guys ever want me? Will I always be lonely?”. However, you bounce right back. You surround yourself with good people and keep yourself busy. You really inspired me to take myself out a this slump I’m in and turn it into something positive.
I would say good luck and you’ll find someone much more worth your time, but you already know that :) In the short time I read your blog, I can tell you’re an amazing, beautiful woman inside and out!
Keep it up =D
