Monday’s at the WAB ruled my summer. Jenn and I met up almost every week and biked the couple blocks to Woodward to get dinner for half-off. Her on her speedy black and pink road bike and me peddling like mad to keep up on my green cruiser.

The streets around the restaurant were lined with bikes all summer. Every tree, lamppost and parking meter had at least one bike chained to it, but usually it was more like two or three.

We’d wait in line for a table upstairs because it was too hot after riding to sit outside. Dunner would stop working for a few minutes to come over and hand out bear hugs. The place was generally packed with familiar faces by the time we’d get there around 9.

We’d both order enormous salads, the bowls were at least foot across, and talk about work and boys while watching cars and people on the boulevard through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

An hour or two later we’d be outside unlocking our bikes and attempting to attached one or two carryout boxes to the rack on the back of my bike with a giant hula hoop of a bike chain.

Then we’d ride home, drop off our leftovers, and make a few more laps around the neighborhood before calling it a night.

aw i haven’t been to the WAB in a long time. i need to get over to royal oak (is it royal oak or ferndale there?). i was just looking at taking a class at the royal oak campus but the thought of driving an extra 15-20 mins east in the winter time makes me think, no. haha

ria – it’s in ferndale. depends on what time your class is, the drive might not be so bad!

it’d be a night class from 6-9. i’m spoiled because the orchard ridge campus is across the street from my subdivision so i think i’ll wait and see if they offer it there in the fall :)

This makes me miss summer. And it’s only December. Ugh.

In related news, I really need to get a bike.
