Turn Ons: Note Cards and Budgeting

Here’s what I love – note cards.

I keep a stack of multi-colored note cards next to my bed for quick notes and recording quotes, which get clipped to the string of lights next to my bed, so I can read them every day.

They are also good for to-do lists. Every week I write down everything I need to get done. From raking leaves to painting my toenails, it all gets written down. Then I can refrain from keeping a mental list and use my brain power for other things, like reading books and planning adventures.

I usually start with an easy task to get myself motivated, then conquer the big, ugly monstrous tasks I’ve been putting off, and finish with a few more easy ones.

I take great pleasure in checking off items on my list. It’s like a bunch of mini accomplishments every week.

I’ve also started my Christmas shopping. I’m going to try and buy all handmade gifts again this year, though it’s always difficult to come up with something for my dad on Etsy.

In an effort to keep with my budget I’ll be purchasing one gift each week for the next five weeks. I bought Gravy’s gift yesterday, so that just leaves Mom, Dad, John, Kate and Aaron. I’ll take gift money out of my weekly allowance and hopefully not dig into my savings at all.

I’m doing my best to not run out and buy all kinds of decorations, though it’s so tempting. I have a rebate from my Bberry coming, so I’ll be using that for a tree and stockings. I’ll stock up on decorations closer to Christmas once everything goes on sale.
