In writing about my family, I don’t think I can ever really explain how fun and entertaining they are. It’s not just my mom, dad, brother and sister, we’re all very close with my aunts, uncles, cousins too, so when we get together it gets very loud and very crazy. We all have the same silly sense of humor and I probably have more inside jokes with my family then with friends.

Yesterday, when I showed up at my aunt and uncle’s house for my cousin’s graduation party, my uncle greeted me wearing some sort of German looking hat (which one is only allowed to wear after drinking a sufficient amount) and carrying a stein, which stayed attached to his hand all evening.

We played ladder ball, barbecued, and drank A LOT. After a bonfire had been lit and the sun had gone down, someone mentioned playing flip cup and my uncle immediately jumped out of his chair to ‘go set up.’ Five minutes later we were all blinded by the spotlights he set up on the deck aimed at a pingpong table in the backyard.

This was serious business. There was an intro to one of those songs they play at the start of a basketball game, team names (Average Joe’s and Cobra Kai) and nicknames…

On this side we have – Pee Pee Pants, Popeye, DC, Mothra, Latte and Cupcake!

On the other side we have Etsy, Curly, Spanish, Inquisition, Mick, and Geppetto!

During the first two rounds with my mom and brother on one side and my aunt and her son on the other, we decided the winning mom would get to ask the losing son a question. This would be how we found out the name of my brother’s new lady friend and how my cousin explained the burns on the carpet were from he and his friend playing with sparklers…suuuuure.
