The story of how I got a tattoo for free

After watching the Wings game on Saturday, Jessica and I headed to the bar for a few drinks. Her friend Ray, who she hadn’t seen in years and I had never met before, was there buying rounds for everyone. At some point, after we were all sufficiently intoxicated (you think this is going somewhere really bad, don’t you?) Ray decided we (he, Jessica and I) should get tattooed the next day. After he said he’d pay, Jess and I were in.

Sunday I wake up on Jessica’s couch at 8am, drive home and pass out until about noon. You may have seen my tweet that said “still alive! i believe i agreed to get tattooed this afternoon…so not gonna happen.” Shortly after that I get a text from Jessica saying “Ray texted ‘wake up! tattoos!’ Can you be ready by 2:15?” I wanted to take advantage of a free tattoo, but couldn’t come up with anything to get until Jessica made the obvious suggestion.

Yep…a cupcake, for free, paid for by a dude I just met.

The artist was super cool, so I was happy to be tortured for 3 hours and let him do whatever he wanted. It turned out better than I imagined, so I think I’m going to have him do a second one underneath.
