I finally started looking at houses again and found one that I like a lot. It has dark hardwood floors throughout, 3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths. Nice sized dining room and an updated kitchen. I’m getting so antsy to move closer to friends and work. Now with the snow, once I get home for the day I’m hard pressed to leave the house again.

But…the real reason I’m writing this entry is to tell you about one of the other houses I walked through. It was a nice house in a nice neighborhood. There was a truck in the driveway when we arrived, but I didn’t think anything of it since the house was vacant. We walked through the main floor, upstairs and then I headed for the basement when I heard something moving around. I turned to my realtor and whispered “I think there’s someone down there.” We walked down together to find a woman folding up a blanket. It was obvious that she had broken into the house and spent the night there. There was a pillow on the floor along with a space heater and an alarm clock. We quickly looked around and then headed for the door. The woman kept asking if anyone else was coming to look at the house and when, my realtor said yes, but she didn’t know when.

What a strange, creepy experience, though not completely surprising considering how many people are losing their houses.

Anyway…I’m headed back to walk through the other house tomorrow with my parents. Fingers crossed!

How amazing to find a derelict crashing in a home like that. I like the fact they brought a space heater and an alarm clock. Very home-y.
