Sundays in the D: Eastern Market

Since I’m going to need some furniture when I finally buy a house, my mom, dad and I drove down to Eastern Market yesterday to go antiquing. Eastern Market Antiques has two floors jammed with furniture, art and knick-knacks. As we walked through the dimly lit rooms, doorways busted through the stone walls, ceilings covered in rusting stamped steel, the floors creaked with our weight. Chairs and tables stacked floor to ceiling – it was difficult of focus on any one thing because there was so much packed into each room. Everything was in need of a fresh coast and priced dirt cheap.

I didn’t end up making any purchases, but I’m sure I’ll come home with something once I get my house.
We walked across the street to the market past booths of fresh fruit and veggies. A couple of copper-painted musicians were packing up as it was getting close to 5. Vendors were yelling prices in an attempt to sell everything before the market closed. We bought tomatoes, raspberries, green onions and corn and then hit up another antique shop, just as packed as the first, before heading home.

Furniture shopping is so fun… it just hurts when you get the credit card bills. If I was smart like you and shopped at antique joints, I might have done a little less damage on my Chase card.
P.S. Tag! You’re it. See my blog for details.
I’ve watched too much Jackass not to giggle at “antiquing”.
love that place, sometimes the antiques are hit and miss but you can usually find something super unique.
